Plan Ahead for Machu Picchu

New entry regulations take effect July 1, 2017. A tour operator ensures you have the permits and time to experience the citadel fully.

New Rules for Your Visit

The Peruvian Ministry of Culture has updated the regulations for entry times, hiking excursions, and guide requirements at Machu Picchu, effective July 1, 2017. These changes shape how you experience the site—and planning through a tour operator ensures you have the proper permits, the right timing, and the guidance to make the most of every hour. The Ministry was still finalizing details at the time these regulations took effect, so working with an experienced operator helps you navigate any ongoing adjustments and maximize your visit without surprises.

Why Work With a Tour Operator

The regulations governing Machu Picchu visits are precise and subject to change. Entry windows, hiking permits, guide requirements, and time limits all demand careful coordination. A tour operator familiar with current Ministry of Culture rules ensures your permits are in order, your guide is secured, and your itinerary maximizes every hour on the mountain. Without this expertise, you risk arriving only to find your visit curtailed or your preferred trek unavailable. Planning through an experienced operator transforms regulations from obstacles into the framework for an unforgettable experience.
