Ecuador Welcomes You Back

As of August 15th, travelers with negative PCR tests can enter without quarantine, opening access to the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador's protected lands once again.

Ecuador Welcomes Travelers Again

On August 15th, Ecuador's Emergency Operations Committee published a new protocol to reactivate tourism while protecting both citizens and visitors. The shift is significant: travelers who present a negative PCR test taken up to 10 days before arrival no longer face a 14-day quarantine. Andrew O'Brian, president and CEO of Quito Airport, stated: "This decision will allow us to start the reactivation of tourism in the country and increase passenger traffic and air transport service. The sanitary measures implemented at the airports have proven their effectiveness and, with a negative result of a PCR test, people entering the country will be able to carry out their activities without inconvenience." Ecuador's airports are ready to welcome you safely.

What You Need to Know

Ecuador's entry requirements are straightforward. Here's what matters for your trip.

  • Valid passport (6 months minimum)

  • Negative RT-PCR test (10 days prior)

  • Health declaration form on arrival

Three Paths to Ecuador

Whether you're exploring mainland Ecuador or venturing to the Galapagos, here's what to expect at each stage of your journey.
Three Paths to Ecuador

Mainland Ecuador

Present a negative PCR test taken up to 10 days before arrival. Fill out your Traveler's Health Declaration Form upon entry. Masks and social distancing are required in public spaces. Our guide and private transportation will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

Galapagos-Bound Travel

After arriving in mainland Ecuador, you'll need a second RT-PCR test (approximately $100-200 USD) taken at your hotel. Stay in your reserved accommodation for at least 3 nights while awaiting results, which arrive within 48 hours. Only with a negative result can you proceed to the islands.

Final Steps to the Islands

Present your negative local PCR test taken within 96 hours of departure, your Special MINTUR pass, and Transit Control Card at the airport. Our team will greet you in Galapagos and assist with park entrance fees and luggage. The National Parks, including the Galapagos Islands, have been open to visitors since July 1st.

Traveling to the Galapagos

If your Ecuador journey continues to the Galapagos, additional requirements apply. You'll need a new RT-PCR test taken locally at your hotel (100–200 USD approximately), with results delivered within 48 hours. Before boarding a flight to the islands, you must present a negative test result from no more than 96 hours prior, along with your MINTUR pass (which we coordinate), Transit Control Card, travel insurance, and confirmed services. At the airport in Quito or Guayaquil, registration is mandatory, and we strongly recommend our VIP services to navigate the migratory line efficiently. Once in the Galapagos, we'll greet you, assist with the National Park entrance fee, and ensure your arrival is seamless.
