Chile Awaits

From Patagonia's granite peaks to wine valleys and beyond, discover the landscapes that define South America's most coveted destination.

From Glaciers to Patagonia

After experiencing some of the best parts of Peru and Argentina—including the glaciers on the Argentine side of Patagonia—one of South America's most coveted destinations awaited: Chile. A bus ride from Calafate over the Chilean border brought me into Torres del Paine, where vastly diverse landscapes, world-class wine, and the stunning Chilean side of Patagonia converge. It really makes sense to see Patagonia in both Argentina and Chile because they're so close and each has so much to offer.

Chilean Wine Country

Chilean Wine Country

Rolling vineyards in Casablanca Valley and beyond, where sustainable practices shape delicious wines at wineries like Emiliana, Matetic, and Casas del Bosque.

Wine Country, Sustainably

From Casablanca Valley's Emiliana, Matetic, and Casas del Bosque to Colchagua Valley's Neyen Vineyard and Viu Manent, Chile's wine regions showcase vineyards that have woven sustainability into every harvest. These estates implement practices that benefit the environment, strengthen their communities, and ultimately enhance the flavor of what's in your glass. A day spent moving between tasting rooms and vineyard rows—the afternoon light soft on the vines, a glass of Pinot Noir in hand—reveals why Chile has become one of South America's most compelling wine destinations.

Coastal Colors and Wine Country Farewells

From the vineyards of Casablanca Valley, the journey led north to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar—a pair of coastal towns less than an hour away, their pastel buildings and Pacific views offering a vivid contrast to the wine country's quiet rows. After days of tastings and terroir, the final stretch took me inland to Santa Cruz and the Colchagua Valley, where one last winery tour at Viu Manent and a return to Santiago completed the arc. The city tour before departure felt like a proper goodbye, a chance to see where the journey had begun before heading home.
