Design Inspiration Rooted in Heritage
"My heritage is an important part of my design vision. When I travel, I connect with so many different cultures and I draw from them for inspiration and my surroundings and the countries I visit leave a deep imprint on me," says Luigi Irauzqui, the Los Angeles-based interior designer and HARPER'S BAZAAR INTERIORS' Style Editor. For Luigi, returning to Peru isn't just a journey—it's a creative pilgrimage. Traveling forces him to engage with new environments and offers perspective, putting his mind in a highly creative mode. "Traveling has always been a main source of my creativity and inspiration," he explains. On this Yampu expedition, Luigi sources Hispanic and native influences that will shape future projects for his full-service design firm, CASAVECCHIA DESIGN GROUP, with current work spanning West Hollywood, Old Town Pasadena, and international commissions across Europe and Australia.

DESIGN ROOTS
Sources of Inspiration
The landscapes, crafts, and heritage that shape Luigi's creative vision.

Ancient Stone
Incan masonry speaks in precision and time—each stone fitted without mortar, weathered by centuries, a masterclass in structural design.

Market Colors
Peruvian textiles and pottery burst with pattern and tradition, the handmade details that transform a room from functional to personal.

Sacred Valley
Terraced hillsides and dramatic skies remind why Luigi returns home—the landscape itself is the design.
